La Fontaine, at an altitude of 750m, covers 8 hectares including 5 ha of meadows and 1 ha of market gardening (including the vegetable patch, the orchard and the berries). We are blessed to have the Provencal climate, especially between April and October to grow a maximum of vegetables and fruits on site.
Crops
Field crops harvested include potatoes, carrots, beets, onions, garlic, leeks, squash, zucchini, beans, and a multitude of varieties of tomatoes.
In one of the two greenhouses of 200 m2 each, salads, lamb’s lettuce, spinach, chard, fennel, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, kohlrabi, melons, watermelons are grown. Plants and sowing are carried out on site. There are also condiments and medicinal plants. The orchard consists of apricot, apple, plum, cherry, pear trees.
Berries such as raspberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants and blackberries are also cultivated, generally transformed into delicious jams on solar ovens.
Our objective is autonomy for the consumption of fruits and vegetables .
